Hello Monday – March 23, 2020
Welcome to Hello Monday, the weekly, company-wide news show for the volunteer-run 501(c)3 nonprofit, Blue Forge Group. We were founded in 1989 to empower underrepresented storytellers, bring light to the shadows, voice to the silence, and make storytelling accessible across all mediums.
Every Monday we share all the changes, announcements, casting calls, job openings and news for our four divisions: Blue Forge Films, Blue Forge Press, Blue Forge Gaming, and Blue Forge Records.
If you are one of the 800+ artisans who work with us – an author, musician, game designer, filmmaker or actor – keeping up with Hello Monday keeps you in the loop. And you don’t have to watch: You can just listen to the episode or you can read the transcript each Monday at www.tiny.cc/hellomondayblog
My name is Jennifer DiMarco and I’m a co-owner, author and director at Blue Forge. And my name is Brianne DiMarco and I’m a co-owner, editor and composer at Blue Forge. We’re also your hosts for today’s episode.

Campus Quarantine. Some of you are sheltered in place right now or quarantined under doctor’s orders. Our household – which means the entire Blue Forge campus – is affected by the latter. This means social distancing is not enough and we were ordered to remain completely without contact with any other individuals for fourteen days. This is Day 6 of that order. This is, primarily, to protect Maxwell who is on a biologic medication that effects his immune response.
However, we have a large bin that’s sanitized twice a day for deliveries out by the gate. Folks can safely pick up orders or drop off materials at the bin. On April 1, our fourteen days will be over and then we’ll consult with Maxwell’s doctors and see what they advise.

Daily Videos. While we don’t think the business needs daily updates, we know that many of you are alone right now or scared. Being scared is a normal human response to all of this. Give yourself permission to cry or freak out or laugh hysterically. Whatever helps. But also know that we’re here to chat or put a smile on your face with friendly daily videos. We’ve been posting videos for the last five days and they can all be seen at www.tiny.cc/staysafecreate. We post at different times every day so make sure to click the Subscribe button to be notified.
And by the way: The idea of “stay safe, stay home and create” isn’t original. During times of human isolation due to illness or war, many of the greatest works of music, theatre and literature were created. So, if you can, stay creative and know your publisher, game studio, record label, and film studio is here for you.

Text Alerts. Want to make sure you know what’s going on with Blue Forge – like online events or job openings or special releases? Sign up for text alerts! Just text your name to the office number at 360-550-2071 and we can add you.
By the way, just the heads up: 360-550-2071 is not Jennifer’s personal phone. It is the office phone. Jennifer does not currently have a personal phone number. We all take turns staffing the phone so please don’t send personal messages to Jennifer... because that could get embarrassing.

Facebook Messenger. Might as well add here: Jennifer’s Facebook Messenger account is also not private. ALL messages are automatically copied to the Board of Directors. Do not use Messenger for personal messages.
Actually, don’t send business messages there either. Send business messages to the appropriate email account.

Blue Forge Records Update. Blue Forge Records is proceeding on schedule in terms of album release. We have delayed hiring a division manager. This was going to happen during the first half of the month but we still hope to handle it during March. Musicians? Keep working on new albums!
The concert dvd of the Feast of Sound will be released in April.

Blue Forge Gaming Update. Blue Forge Gaming has one PC game waiting to be coded (Constance Clark 1), six adventure decks waiting for illustrations and layout, and one role-playing game waiting for editing and layout.
Right now we’ve had to make the incredibly difficult decision to temporarily close the division until further notice. We hope to bring the division back by this summer but right now we have to focus on the other divisions.

Blue Forge Films Update. If you are an actor or filmmaker, you should already know about the Films in Progress link at www.blueforgefilms.com. This link takes you a complete list of all shows and films and explains what their status is.
Last month we released the long-awaited feature film Macbeth The Musical Parody. This month we’ll be releasing the final two episodes of Cassandra, the first episodes of Knowledge Drop, regular episodes of Seriously Cereal, and the feature film The Trees Have Names. Every Monday, we’ll update what shows and films are current in the queue.
If you are a filmmaker working with Blue Forge, our official request is that you NOT audition or film right now unless you are filming only with people in your household. If you are an actor being pressured to film by a filmmaker associated with Blue Forge, text us at 360-550-2071 immediately. We will not support that type of behavior.

Blue Forge Press Update. The Uncertain Journey audio book and the Free Range Protocol audio book are in the final stages of editing now and will be available early in April. The Oak of Weeping audio book will be out before the end of April.
We currently have Codex 3, See Me 3, Ascension, Collecting Shadows, and Dax’s novel in the queue for novel editing and layout. Only after those are completed and released will we move on to the Blue Flash fiction. So keep those Blue Flash stories coming in so they’re ready. Brianne will be doing a lot of novel layout in April.

Feast of Words Update. Obviously, public mall-based Feast of Words events have been cancelled for the time being. However, if you are an author who has personal inventory and want to participate in online Feast of Words events, here are the things you’ll need:
1. Packing tape and envelopes that fit your books.
2. A working printer. (Or the ability to pick up from our bin.)
If you don’t have tape or envelopes, we suggest picking the up from Amazon as opposed to going to a local store. Again: Stay home as much as possible.
If you meet all the requirements, email us at email@example.com and Jennifer will get you set up selling online. Please do not email Blue Forge Press for this specific event.
We’ll be able to create buy links for you to post and talk you through the whole process. We’ll even run postage for you online and send you a PDF with the digital postage in place – all you’ll have to do is print the postage label and stick it to your packed book.
That packed book can then be left in your mailbox with your flag up for the postal carrier to pick up.

That’s all the news for this week. If you have questions or would like us to cover something next Monday, please don’t hesitate to write to us at firstname.lastname@example.org or post a comment below.
And remember: Monday doesn’t have to be a day you dread. Monday can be the first day in the best creative week of your life.
