Hello Monday – June 6, 2020
Updated: Jun 8, 2020
Welcome to Hello Monday, the weekly, company-wide show for the volunteer-run 501(c)3 nonprofit, Blue Legacy. We were founded in 1989 to empower underrepresented storytellers, bring diverse people together, and make storytelling accessible across all mediums.
Every Monday we share all the announcements, casting calls, job openings and news for our four divisions that each focus on a different medium: Blue Forge Films, Blue Forge Press, Blue Forge Gaming, and Blue Forge Records.
If you are one of the artisans who work with us – an author, musician, game designer, filmmaker or actor – keeping up with Hello Monday keeps you in the loop. And you don’t have to watch: You can just listen to the episode or you can read the transcript at www.tiny.cc/hellomondayblog
My name is Maxwell DiMarco and I’m an editor and author at Blue Forge. I’m also your host for today’s episode. My thanks to Faith DiMarco, the dedicated editor of Hello Monday as well as an actor and producer at Blue Forge.

Reopening the Campus. In next week’s Hello Monday, we’ll be discussing the company moving forward and our plans to reopen. The Washington State governor has approved Kitsap County (and most other Washington counties) for Phase 2 and we have sent emails and left phone messages for our mall and event venue partners to talk about restarting events... but in safe ways and with a lot of changes. We will discuss all of this at length next week when we have more information.

Sound & Silence Congratulations! Thank you to the 71 artisans and supporters who attended our first-ever online premiere at BlueFlix Cinema. The Blue Forge Films/Blue Village short film, Sound & Silence, was a fantastic success and is already available on dvd and as a digital download, as a soundtrack cd and a digital album, and to rent online instantly! Great work, everyone over at Blue Village! If you’re interested in joining the Blue Village acting troupe and finding out more about the (safe!) acting projects they’re engaged in right now, pop over to blueforgefilms.com and click Blue Village. And that leads us perfecting into our next topic:

What is Blue Village? This month we’ve had several artisans ask us to define the various “blue” imprints tied to Blue Forge Films. Blue Village is an acting troupe where members pay $2/month to vote on films to make, be cast in those films, and help produce those films together with other members and Jennifer. The other type of Blue Village membership is for producers and investors who pay $100/month and get offered acting roles (if they want them), help make decisions about films like other members, and they get paid a percentage of revenue earned from Blue Village projects.

What is BlueFlix? BlueFlix is where Blue Forge Films sells and rents the films, workshops, and film anthologies we’ve produced with our partners. There are nineteen titles there right now and folks can watch their trailers, rent and watch them instantly online; buy them on dvd or as a digital download; buy soundtrack albums, and more. Since 2012 when Blue Forge Films launched, we’ve released around 800 ultra short films, a dozen short films and two dozen features. So we have a lot of films to add to BlueFlix and we add new titles every month. There is no monthly fee; you pay for only want you watch, purchase or download. Find out more at blueforgefilms.com and click BlueFlix.

What is BlueFlix Lite? BlueFlix Lite is the name of our YouTube channel. This is where folks can find our films and television shows and web series for all ages that are completely free. There are over 2000 videos at BlueFlix Lite all divided into easy to search genres right on the main page. You can find out more by jumping right to tiny.cc/blueflixlite

What is BlueFlix Cinema? We’re so excited to explain BlueFlix Cinema to people! BlueFlix Cinema is a website with three very special features: It automatically plays a video at a scheduled time so people can come to the website and watch together. It has a chat room space where people can talk to each other for an hour prior and an hour after the video. And the website has a password so only people who have purchased a ticket and enter the password from their ticket can access the website on event days. BlueFlix Cinema allows us to have movie premieres or workshops on the last Saturday of every month safely and for people all over the country. No worries about parking, traffic, viruses, or herds of wild hamsters ruining an event. You can watch a introduction video– no password needed – by going to blueforgefilms.com and clicking BlueFlix Cinema. And speaking of premieres at BlueFlix Cinema...

The Laurels Premiere June 27. At 3pm Pacific Time on Saturday, June 27. The Laurels was a drama mini series Blue Forge Films made very early in our history but it has truly stood the test of time. We have adapted the mini series into a feature film and this two-hour film will premiere on June 27 at BlueFlix Cinema. Let me tell you a little more about The Laurels:
Six writers. Six secrets. One reclusive poet. When Portia Grey, the poet laureate, starts a critique group, it’s a dream come true for writers in sleepy Port Laurel. From all walks of life, a mother, a solider, a pastor's only child, a teenage prodigy, a detective, and a wizened senior gather every week in the hundred-year-old community center at the heart of town. As they wait for the laureate to make her grand appearance, the secrets and lies begin to build. [www.tiny.cc/blueflixcinema]
The Laurels has an ensemble cast of both veteran and first-time actors ranging in age from 13 to 89. The cast is very diverse in other ways as well and their characters and plots are full of surprises, twists and secrets. We hope to see you there!
